World Meditation Day 21st May

The practice of meditation has been around for centuries. It has been part of various religions and cultures for generations and is the technique used to heighten personal awareness of calm of an emotional and physical state.

Today, more and more people are seeing the benefits of meditation, the true value it brings to your emotional wellbeing. Meditation can be practiced either in the form of yoga or directly through meditation. However, there are other strategies which use the same understanding.

Meditation can be practicing breathing techniques but can also be listening to music, enjoying sounds of nature, whether this is in reality or sat at home listening to sounds. Using grounding techniques of being in the here and now. Even just taking time out of your busy day to stop and rest can be a form of meditation. Its about doing nothing and bringing calm to your body and mind.

Other strategies which can also help bring calmness is decluttering and destressing your home and life. This could be practical things like removing items from your home which you don’t need any more, don’t use and taking up unnecessary space. Keeping your house clean and tidy can have a huge impact on your emotional wellbeing and state of mind. Prioritising activities in your life and letting go of things which aren’t important is also part of destressing and enabling you to bring calm.

On Sunday 21st May it is World Meditation Day. Maybe use this day to make some changes, start to declutter and start to take time for you and your wellbeing.
