International Men’s Day

International Men’s Day is held every year to help raise awareness regarding men’s mental health, positive masculinity and gender equality. The day provides an opportunity to address challenges, encourage discussions and promote actions which support physical health and positive role models.

Every year, International Men’s Day is held on 19th November. This year, it falls on a Sunday, which is a great day to get involved.

This could be by encouraging others to prioritise their physical and mental health by seeking medical advice and support when needed.

Adovating gender equality by promoting gender equality and challenging harmful stereotypes and behaviours whcih can affect both mend and women.

Celebrating positive male role models to encourage boys and men to express their emotions, this helps support positive masculinity. Part of this could include being part of a mentorship programme, which connects boys and young men with positive male role models in their communities.

Organise events, seminars, workshops or discussions which address men’s issues such as mental health, fatherhood and career development. Part of this is to also recognise and celebrate achievements of contributions from men in various fields and industries.

Recognising and supporting international Men’s Day can have much meaning for boys and young men, especially those who may not have male figures in their own lives. Raising awareness empowers others to recognise their own achievements and value. For more information visit https://ukmensday.org.uk/2023-theme/
